Methodist Church
Scothern Chapel has been a village place of Christian worship for over 165 years. In the 1980s it was considerably altered to create a space that can be used for both Community and Christian use.
Up until 2022 it was self-supporting within the wider Lincoln Methodist Circuit having its own Stewards who organised all Financial, Property and Management decisions.
In September 2022 National reorganisation meant it was no longer viable as an independent entity and a brave decision was taken for it be affiliated to Nettleham Chapel, who are now responsible for the complete running and organisation of Scothern Chapel.
This has been a ground breaking experiment. A new computerised sound and screen system means we now have a choice between music provided by a keyboard player, or on-screen hymns, recorded music and power-point presentations.
Currently the aim of the Circuit Superintendent (and of the Church of England) is to provide a Service every Sunday in the Village of Scothern, perhaps at the Chapel, perhaps at the Parish Church. Our Congregation also has one service a month when we join our friends at Nettleham.
Service dates are displayed outside the Chapel, and in the Scothern Parish Magazine. These are usually at 10.30 unless stated otherwise
On the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the Month we have a 10.30 Prayers and Coffee session where we chat about issues or people that concern us, then share a few readings or prayers. It is a very informal time together.
The Chapel is available for lettings and is currently used for occasional children’s parties and for Meetings of Scothern Parish Council.
