Parish Council Clips April 2023

PARISH COUNCIL CLIPS

Below is a summary of the Parish Council meeting held on Wednesday 12 April 2023.

This was the last Council meeting in the four-year term of the current Parish Councillors. John Fotheringham who has been a Councillor for the last twelve years has decided that as he has now left the village he will not stand again – John must be thanked for the dedication he has given to the village; litter picking (Wombling!), monitoring pot-holes, hedge and tree works etc, serving as the Council liaison member on the Recreation Centre committee and much, much more.  Thank you, John you will be missed.

The other councillors have been re-elected uncontested; Cathie Nicoll, Jane Johnson, Barnaby Patchett, Derek Canton, Robert Creaser, Neville Reyner who will be joined by Jackie Atkins giving us a full Council. The first meeting of this new Council will be on Wednesday 10 May 2023.

Bob Waller who has served as the District Councillor for the Sudbrooke Ward on West Lindsey District Council will also be retiring with effect from 8 May 2023 as he now lives out of WLDC, thank you Bob for your help (and donations from your Councillor Initiative Fund!) during your term of office. An election will be held on the 4 May for a new District Councillor.

On a sad note, we have lost Rod Newborough who was a leading light (along with Derek and Robert) for the Speed Awareness Initiative in the village, our thoughts and condolences to Ann and family.

Great British Spring Clean – Scothern participated in this initiative with equipment supplied by WLDC; thank you to those residents who turned out to help.  There is a plan for this to be held at intervals and volunteers will be welcomed to the group. Please watch the noticeboards, FaceBook and the website for more information.

Best Garden Competition – will be held again this year and details will soon be published. If you are willing to sponsor the competition, please do get in touch with the Parish Clerk.

Central Lincolnshire Local Plan (CLLP) – it is expected that the CLLP will have been adopted on 13 April and this will result in the two developments (off Dunholme Road and Nettleham Road) proceeding. The next stage will be planning applications by the potential developers. It is hoped that the Review of the Scothern Neighbourhood Development Plan (SNDP) which has been submitted to WLDC, will be adopted via a Referendum in the summer a will have some impact on planning applications.

CPR Courses - Following the success of the courses held in the village some years ago the Parish Council is hoping to arrange a refresher course – watch this space!

Next meeting – the next meeting will be the Annual Parish Council meeting to be held on Wednesday 10 May 2023 at 19:30 in the Methodist Church when Councillors will formally Accept the Office of Councillor, the Chairman will be elected and other councillor responsibilities discussed/allocated.
